Parametric Insurance
Yokahu exclusively develops and distributes parametric insurance products. These are “smart contract”-like instruments with pre-agreed, immediate payouts. Parametric insurance is event-based not asset-based, so there is no need for costly loss adjustment, fraud risk is minimised and execution can be automated. Because of the high level of digitisation from our own technology platform, Yokahu can offer discrete pricing in real-time, far more efficiently than traditional insurance.
-
Data Science
Yokahu creates geospatial risk models using the latest machine-learning technology and highly granular satellite imaging. These models are used to swiftly develop new parametric products and access new markets quickly.
-
Climate Science
Yokahu has partnered with the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, one of the world's leading environmental research universities for over 50 years.
-
Technology Platform
Yokahu's global approach to data and financial technology creates the capacity to build bespoke products for any type of weather event, anywhere, that can be scaled to meet the needs and budgets of those most at risk. End-to-end digitisation means that payouts are fully automated and our partners have real-time portfolio insights.
-
Exposure Monitoring
Yokahu monitors weather events in real-time across the globe and uses this information to trigger payments to policyholders. Because Yokahu's business is digitised end-to-end, payments are sent automatically, ensuring that climate vulnerable communities receive money within hours of an event occurring.
-
Payouts
Policyholder payouts are automatically calculated based on real-time exposure monitoring. Payouts are automatically adjusted for policy terms, unpaid premium and previous payouts already made.
-
Parametric
Parametric insurance uses aggregated information to trigger payments to policy holders in the event of a defined climate occurrence, rather than the more complicated method of assessing and compensating damage that may be caused.
